The lawyer licensing process comprises two separate examinations, a 10-month articling term, an online Professional Responsibility and Practice course, and a good character requirement. Paralegal candidates are required to complete a diploma or certificate from an accredited paralegal program and a 120-hour field placement, as well as write a licensing examination and meet good character requirements.
1,994 lawyers were called to the bar in 2013. 1,344 paralegals were licensed.
